Q: I really wish that mBox Mail supported [FEATURE XYZ]?

We have tried to make the application full featured but obviously we can't think of everything. We would love to add the features that the community considers to be valuable. Please send us your suggestions about how to make mBox Mail even better to support@mboxmail.com.

Q: Can I get a notification when my Windows Live Hotmail account gets a new email?

Yes, when new email arrives to your Hotmail account your device can get 'push SMS notificaitons'. See this link for information: Push Setup.

Q: Why do I get Message Header Sync Failed... (Server Error 1.)?

It has been reported that when this happens access to Hotmail via Safari is also not working. Visit here for more troubleshooting tips.

Q: I downloaded mBox Mail and entered my username and password but I keep getting authentication failed. What is going on?

1. Login to Hotmail and scroll to the bottom of the screen. Try switching over to the Full Version. Once you have changed to advanced mode try and reinstall mBox Mail.

2. Download Live Client for PC and verify that you can login correctly. If you can than verify your username and password are entered correctly in mBox Mail.

Q: I keep getting this error kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 302?

This is a problem with the network. On iPhone disable Wifi and see if that resolves the issue. Enter kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 302 iphone into Google and try suggested resolutions.

Q: Does mBox Mail support multiple accounts?

At this time only one Hotmail account at a time is supported. We are planning to add this feature soon.

Q: Will I be able to use my Hotmail contacts when I send email?

Yes, your Hotmail and iPhone contacts are available when addressing email in mBox Mail.

Q: When I enter my credentials the first time the application took several minutes to download my very large mailbox. Will it always take this long?

No, subsequent mail syncs are very fast. The first time mBox Mail syncs a large mailbox it optimizes the data so future synchronization will be very fast. We recommend that if your mailbox is large that you synchronize the first time using Wifi. Don't worry if you don't have Wifi you can still use mBox Mail it will just take a little longer the first time.

Q: iPhone/iPod Touch already has great mail support. Why do I need mBox Mail?

Apple has done a great job on the "native" email application. Unfortunately Windows Live Hotmail does not support the standard IMAP, POP3, or Exchange protocols so you cannot get your email with the native application. mBox Mail is like the built in mail application but supports Windows Live Hotmail protocol instead of the other standard protocols.

Q: If the device screen turns off while the application is running, will it continue to download my mail?

Yes, when the screen turns off the application is still running, it will continue to finish downloading mail during that time.

Q: I changed my password on the "Windows Live Hotmail Web Site" but my device is still able to get mail without updating the password on the device. Why does this happen?

Currently the cookies we get from the Microsoft Passport server are valid for 24 hours since we got those cookies. Ideally those cookies should expire if the password has changed. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie

Q: My inbox is only showing 25 messages is there a way to show more?

Yes. In iPhone Settings. Select "mBox Mail Settings". Change the "Show" setting to 50, 100, or 200. Next time you start the application the messages will appear.

Q: When I try to view a very large email in Safari it says my message is not available now.

This happens if the mobile's Web Browser was already logged into another Windows Live Hotmail account. To view your email simply select the "Sign out" link in the browser and login with the same ID you use for mBox Mail.

Q: Why, when I enter a folder I have not viewed before, the application downloads the emails for that folder.

To save space on the device only the Inbox is downloaded by default. However, if you view another folder than the message bodies for that folder are downloaded at that time.

Q: Is there a way to stop syncing a folder I have viewed?

No currently you cannot stop syncing a folder once it has been viewed once.

Q: When I send a simple test message it sometimes does not land in my Windows Live Hotmail account.

Windows Live Hotmail sometimes discards short mail and does not put a copy in your Junk mail folder. A proper test requires a message size of at least 1000 characters.

Q: I have tried everything listed here and am still having problems. Now what?

Send an email to support@mboxmail.com and describe the best you can the problem you are having. The more details you provide the better we will be able to assist you.
